PRAISE REPORT FROM IQUITO PEOPLE

We wanted to let everyone know that our friend Alejandro has accepted Christ. We've been praying for a year now that the would follow Christ but he has been counting cost for a while now. Last week after a successful hunt in the jungle (killing a taper, 2 jungle rats (majas) and something else) he accepted Christ. The team there in Atalaya had specifically prayed that God would demonstrate his faithfulness to those on the hunt by making it a success and blessing it. We would like you all to join us praising God for Alejandro and to pray he keeps the passion he has and desire to grow in his walk and reach real depth.

Bryan Baptist Association (Durant, OK) reaching the Iquito People

Pray for : Jacob, David, Brandon, Christian, Rachel, Lauren, Joshua, Shaun and Richard, as well as their translators Elias, David and new comer Merina. They will be going to the Iquito communities of San Antonio and Nueva Atalaya and ministering there from May 24 to May 31.

Pray for the two Bibles studies that were started earlier this year in Nueva Atalaya, that the team's visit will be encouraging and up lifting to both the men's and women's groups. Pray for new work to be started in San Antonio and for the leadership in the church there. The Pastor is very old, hard of hearing, and almost blind, which makes it very difficult for him to learn new information or study his Bible. The two "co-pastors" there have major issues- one will alcoholism and the other is also the town's practicing witch-doctor. Neither have any desire to learn more about the Bible or its teachings. These "co-pastors" are also the son-in-laws to the Pastor all of which were "named" into leadership before there was any missionary involvement from Bryan Baptist. Pray for the team as they sort through these major issues in San Antonio and seek the Lord's wisdom in dealing with theses on-going complicated situations.

Pray that the team will be able to seek out a person of peace in San Antonio and for new believers to come from this trip, ones with a willingness and hunger for learning God's Word and following Him daily.

Update on Luis & Team Traveling- Amazon Region

Thank you for praying for Luis after his snake bite. He has pretty much made a full recovery. His right leg is still a little weaken but the doctor said that should clear up sometime this week. He is so thankful for everyones prayers and concern for him, foe his wellbeing and for his family. Luis is a faithful believer that helps the REAP North-Iquitos team tremendously. He also acts as a translator for many of our teams that work in this area. Thank you again for your prayers.

Luis is back up on the saddle this week and is out in the jungle again only a week after his accident. He's out assisting two semester volunteers with research and discipleship among the Iquito people group. The team returns Feb 26th to Iquitos. They would appreciate your prayers during their trip as well.

Iquito People Group- Amazon Basin

Hands On Missionary, Casey Kidd and semester student volunteer Kaci Dills will be traveling with one of our Peruvian partners, Luis Rios, to do some in-depth research among two of the three remaining Iquito villages. While on their trip they will be doing house to house visits and gaining vital information for Bryan Baptist Association of Oklahoma to use in the development of their stratery for their adoption of the Iquito people. Their trip dates are February 4-12, 2010.
